EFD to be highlighted at IADC HSE Conference

Tom Williams and Rich Haut will be presenting 'Creating a Company's Environmental Culture to Improve Performance in the Energy Industry' at the IADC HSE Conference and Exhibition in Houston, TX, February 7, 2012. See link for further details.

Papers on Hydraulic Fracturing:

George King, Apache Corp., has developed a compilation of facts and information about the hydraulic fracturing process and the risks associated with the technology for unconventional gas and oil wells.

White Paper on Hydraulic Fracturing - Written by two summer interns the paper reviews technical papers and identifies management practices available to make hydraulic fracturing more environmentally friendly

EFD in RigZone

RigZone is running a series of articles about EFD, see:

The Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) and Texas A&M University, along with industry sponsors and stakeholders (NGO's, government agencies, others) operate the Environmentally Friendly Drilling Systems Program integrating advanced technologies into systems that significantly reduce the impact of petroleum drilling and production in environmentally sensitive areas. The team focuses on technologies that reduce the environmental and societal tradeoffs associated with the development of energy sources. The objective is to identify, develop and transfer critical, cost effective, new technologies that can provide policy makers and industry with the ability to develop US domestic reserves in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

Coming Soon!

We have been awarded the Technology Integration Program (TIP).  The objectives are (1) to integrate developing technologies into systems that lower cost and improve performance of unconventional gas shale development, (2) to bring new technologies to a "proving ground" where they can be evaluated for commercial potential, (3) to demonstrate technology to reduce the environmental footprint of operations and (4) to disseminate the information.

In addition, we have recently received the contract to begin the Coastal Impacts Technology Program (CITP). The CITP will focus on technologies that reduce the impact of oil and gas activities along the Texas Gulf Coast.

With the award of these two programs, we will be significantly updating the web site in the near future.
